Juurtes on vägi

The exhibition Juurtes on vägi (There Is Strength in Roots) is, on the one hand, an ode to the forest and to nature more broadly, and on the other hand, an ode to our ancestors, who — directly or indirectly — have shaped us into who we are. Everything has roots somewhere.

Through the paintings presented in this exhibition, I convey emotional experiences inspired by nature. In these works I focus on the essence of emotion, creating perceptual spaces and abstractions drawn from moments of life. Nature, the main theme of the exhibition, can also be understood as a metaphor. In these color-rich works, I stylize nature through the prism of architectural forms. Calm surfaces alternate with bold or finely textured ones, rich motifs with minimalist ones. This exhibition is a conceptual continuation of my previous exhibition Loodu(se) mõistulood (Nature’s Fairy Tales). In creating the works, I have used film and methanol among other intriguing techniques. The layering and transparency of the surfaces invite deeper exploration and discovery, both technically and conceptually. The exhibition offers a good overview of my most recent work.
