Group ExhibitionNow On
7 March – 24 May 2026MONA The Museum of New Art, Pärnu

Annual exhibition of the Estonian Painters’ Association at the Museum of New Art in Pärnu.

The more industrial our living environment becomes, and the rarer untouched nature grows for people to experience, the more central landscape painting becomes as a theme in contemporary painting — both in Estonia and internationally. Landscape as a motif dominates, for example, in the more recent work of artists such as Anselm Kiefer and David Hockney, to name just a few of the most important painters of our time. In Estonian art auctions, price records are set by Konrad Mägi’s landscape paintings and by the seascapes of Richard Uutmaa. Against the backdrop of uncertain and turbulent times, landscape as a subject in art offers a sense of stability, while still allowing countless associations, interpretations, and references. The organisers do not limit the artists’ choices — our ideals may differ by as much as 180 degrees.

The theme of ideal landscapes has inspired artists, and this year the EML annual exhibition sets a record: works by more than 100 artists are on display. Taste will certainly be debated — as it always is. The exhibition, rich in different artistic perspectives, invites you to discover it in the gallery halls.
