Juurtes on vägi IV

The exhibition Juurtes on vägi (There Is Strength in Roots) is, on the one hand, an ode to the forest and to nature more broadly, and on the other hand, an ode to our ancestors, who — directly or indirectly — have shaped us into who we are. Everything has roots somewhere.

Through the paintings presented in this exhibition, I convey emotional experiences inspired by nature. In these works I focus on the essence of emotion, creating perceptual spaces and abstractions drawn from moments of life. Nature, the central theme of the exhibition, can also be understood as a metaphor. In these color-rich works, I stylize nature through the prism of architectural forms. Calm surfaces alternate with bold or finely textured ones, rich motifs with minimalist ones. The distinctive layering and transparency of the painted surfaces invite deeper exploration and discovery, both technically and conceptually.

The exhibition Juurtes on vägi is presented consecutively in three locations — Võru, Viljandi, and Pärnu. Although the exhibitions share the same title because of their thematic connection, I create additional works specifically suited to each gallery. I make the final selection of works before each upcoming exhibition. Together, they provide an overview of my most recent work at that moment in time.
